Comcast Nightmare [Repost]
As I mentioned in a previous post, in lieu of importing all of my archived blog posts from Wordpress (because Tumblr can’t import), I’m going to periodically repost some of my favorites old blog entries. This is the next such post. You can read the original with comments here. For the full archive go to jasonact.wordpress.com. [Originally posted March 10, 2010] Kari and I decided a while...

Are You Ready to Have Sex? →
sundownsocialwork: sexpositive: Ask yourself these questions, and consider all the physical and mental possibilities before having sex. Is your decision to have sex completely your own (you feel no pressure from others, including your partner)? Is your decision to have sex based on the right reasons? (It shouldn’t be based on peer pressure, a need to fit in or make your partner happy, or a...

Book Review: The Shack by William P. Young
The Shack by William P. Young My rating: 3 of 5 stars Writing a review of this book is difficult. I could review it as a bad novel, which it is, but that would be an overly simplistic assessment that I think misses the point of the book. I could also review it as an intriguing exploration of God and the role of Humanity in the world, which also it is. At its heart, I believe this is a...

I don't like the modern #SOTU
I have become extremely jaded and burned out by our current political climate. People seem more polarized and beholden to labels than any other time in my life. Politicians will use almost any opportunity to tear down their opponents, rather than advocate their unique positions. This seems to be especially true in debates, but that’s sort of the nature of debates. Unfortunately, that has also...

Rebooting the blog without bringing the archive
So in the interest of rebooting the blog on Tumblr, I wanted to import my previous posts from Wordpress or Posterous to here so I could keep everything in one place. Unfortunately, Tumblr does not currently have a way to import from other sites. I think I understand the technical reasons that make it difficult, but it’s disappointing nonetheless. So I think in lieu of a better solution, I’m going...

Confessions of a 21st Century Father
My wife today returned from a 5-day business trip, overlapping a weekend. Despite what some might want to believe, I was not huddled in a corner in the fetal position begging the gods to put me out of my misery. On the contrary, we had a perfectly fine time while she was gone. Although I missed Kari, and I was glad for her to come home, I have no problem picking the kids up, feeding them, getting...
